Patrick Smith leads and shapes our Spencer Street campus as Head Trainer of our Melbourne fast track coding bootcamp.
After completing a Bachelor of Multimedia Design in 2009, he worked as a consultant for the past five years. Over those years, he has been a web designer, front-end developer, Mac app developer, and web app developer. Patrick spent most of his career as a freelance digital product designer and developer, focused on apps for the web and Mac for passionate professionals.
He dabbled in the startup world for a while as the founder, curator, and creator of adventure sports video site InfinityList.com. Even crazier? Since its inception, Infinity List has been featured on hypebeast, nerverush, Red Bull, Business Insider, news.com.au, The Blaze, Daily Telegraph and Skydive Mag.
Patrick first heard about the bootcamp model online, through people on Twitter and other websites. As a self-taught coder, Patrick thinks it’s great that the coding education model is moving towards teaching essential skills that are practical, rather than diving into too much unnecessary theory. Plus, a key skill of being a developer is that you must become excellent at self-learning, and he thinks the momentum of the bootcamp model fits that lifestyle perfectly.
"The Coder Academy curriculum adjusts rapidly to industry needs. The industry moves fast and so must we," Patrick remarked.
